Days 5 and 6

Well progress is definitely being made, while I still only have four Link hats and two cat tails officially ready to sell, there are many things nearing completion. On day five of my sewing room captivity I actually broke free, Justin and I went to visit his parents, I brought stuff along to work on. So with a giant bag of Link hats and the necessary sewing accoutrements, I set myself up on the couch in Justin's parents' family room. There I sat from about 1:00pm to 7:ish hand stitching the inside of the hatbands. When we got to their house there were 28 hats in that bag that needed to be done, through sheer perseverance 10 of those hats got their hat bands stitched. That, to me, is a good sized dent in the hand stitching to be done, now all those hats need are the ribbon lacings and they'll be officially done. Only 18 more of those hats to go, lots of work, next time I do this craft fair thing I'm going to make sure I plan out my days/weekends more efficiently. That way I'm not stressing, struggling or hurrying to get product done.
On Christmas Eve, day six of my product making madness, I changed course. What with spending all day hand stitching those hat bands, I didn't particularly feel like threading a needle and resuming the hand stitching. So today, day six, the mushroom bags were tackled. Can I just say I love my sewing machine, things go so much faster with a sewing machine. The plan for MAGFest was to have 10 of these mushroom bags and I'm proud to say that 10 mushroom bags are very nearly done. There's just a few steps to do to finish the sewing on the bags and then its on to painting the mushrooms on the bags. So even though there's not a lot officially done and ready to sell, I feel I'm making great progress. My mom has graciously offered to help me with my product and me thinks I'll be taking her up on that offer, just to make sure things get done by MAGFest. My excitement for being in the Marketplace is still going strong and despite putting myself in this crunchtime, I'm enjoying all this crafty work. Its quite fun to spend time in my sewing/craft room doing what I love to do. This is something I could definitely see myself doing on a regular basis, granted with a little better planning where projects are spread out instead of doing it all at once for a two week deadline.

I hope everyone has a Happy Christmas and enjoys their holiday break!
