Moving forward
With Awesome Con done and no other Cons coming up its time for me to sort out my priorities. My sewing/craft room is currently in rough shape due to the piles of scrap and project fabric that have been accumulating. Also there is a desperate need for better storage and organization in there, no joke it kind of looks like a tornado went through that room. Lucky me there's the oh so addicting site that most everyone knows about, Pinterest. Through Pinterest I have found quite a few pins for sewing/craft room organization that I plan to put in to use in my little room. There will probably be a post involving the reorganization and which pins helped out or worked the best for my small space. Then there is the fact that I feel I've strayed from my creatively tinkering ways, what with getting hyper focused on making convention specific items. So while reorganizing is a high priority so is diversifying and expanding on the things that are posted in my Etsy shop.
Aside from the reorganizing and new product priorities, it would be nice to take some time to sew for myself. Back in October and December, because MAGFest had fallen through, I made two costumes for myself. It was a wonderful feeling to make something for me, for the first time in FOREVER. Having the opportunity to make those costumes for myself also reminded me of the plethora of abandoned fabric projects that reside in the depths of my sewing room closet. In fact one of the costumes was made strictly from fabric that was just lying around waiting to be turned into something wonderful. So don't be surprised if there are a few posts about personal projects that I have been meaning to get to or dreaming of doing for awhile.
In an effort to expand the product in my Etsy shop, I am also very much looking forward to exploring some DIY and project inspirations from the Pinterest boards I have made. After all, the name of my blog and shop is Creatively Tinkering, because it is fun to explore and play with different mediums and supplies. These potential projects will also have the prospect of making their way onto my Etsy shop, provided they turn out well and don't turn into Pinterest fails. There are also the myriad of projects that I have been meaning to do/make for conventions that just don't get made because I get hyper focused on my Link hats. In the future there will be less Link hat action and more diversifying of the product I have currently listed. After seeing the reaction and getting positive feedback on my Sherlock cape and hat, expect to see more geekchic items entering my repertoire.
I'm looking forward to a new chapter with Creatively Tinkering, blog posts may still be slow and trickling for a bit. Gotta get that sewing room organized before any crafty things can happen in there. Eventually though it is my intention to make a blog post schedule so that I aim to post about projects, commissions, or just personal fun things that happen on a regular basis. Which also hopefully means I won't make super long posts like this one or the one prior, I don't want to cause too many TLDR situations.
