A Vest for Little Critters

Recently I made an adorable little puppy vest for a friend's little girl who just turned 1 year old. This vest is from a pattern made by Twig and Tale, its from their Wild Things collection. It is actually a fairly simple pattern and is pretty easy to make. The best part about the pattern for me is the variety of ways it can be used. It comes with instructions that show the many different ways that the pieces can be assembled to make quite a few styles of vest. Granted my favorite way to use the pattern is to make the adorable animal vests.
Vest all cut out and ready to sew together
The patterns are great because they come with a ton of sizes and can be printed out with the specific size you have in mind. This makes it so much easier than the traditional patterns one gets at the fabric store that are sold in size increments and are on tissue paper. Also the instructions are easy to follow and I love how they encourage people to reuse/recycle fabrics. Say you have an old coat and/or blanket that you no longer use, it just might be that you can squeak out one of these vests out of the material and breathe new life into it. I have actually been able to use up some of the random pieces of fleece I have lying around to make these vests which is great, I have a lot of fleece left over from my convention days.

So far I have actually made four of these vests, my favorite being the one I made for my own little wild thing. They make for very cute and warm gifts for little kiddos with an element of dress up play. I absolutely loved that I was able to use the pattern to make a cosplay vest for a friend's little boy, he wanted to be Larry Boy for Halloween. I definitely recommend this pattern for its ease of use, the ability to change/adjust it on the fly, and the fact that it can be reused so easily.
