Now About This House...

Ahh this house, it's one of the big reasons I failed to get a blog up last week (other reasons include being a mom, working part time, and trying to maintain a work out schedule). It is my hope that I can utilize this blog to help inspire me to come up/follow thru with design/organization ideas for the house. When we moved in, a year and a half ago, we were filled with so much hope. Hope for the new baby that would soon arrive and hope to turn this house into our home. While the baby has provided endless fun and excitement the house has proven to be a stress inducing headache.

There was/is so much wrong with this house, it is a fixer upper after all. We knew that going in but as any fixer upper is wont to do it has shown us to be more of a fixer upper than we thought it to originally be. Because of this my feelings toward this house change regularly and rapidly throughout the day. Honestly we need a fairy god-contractor to come save us, looking at you Property Brothers. Luckily as things have started getting fixed (such as a new driveway, new well water system, and the odd new light fixture to name a few) we've been able to start putting a little more effort into finishing the unpacking/organizing of our house. For example I finally got the play corner organized for the baby, the tee-pee I made was the icing on the cake for it.

Pinterest has been a great source of inspiration, my board Fix This House is FULL of ideas for our house, some of which we could pull off here, some just wouldn't work but I saved them anyway for the inspiration. Anyway as the weather gets warmer I'm hoping to actually do some of the DIY projects on this board so I can maybe reclaim some spaces and unpack some boxes. That's right a year and a half into living here and we ARE NOT completely out of boxes. We're lacking some important furniture to do so, i.e. bookshelves, shelves, coffee/side tables.

Honestly I could ramble on FOREVER about all the things wrong with this house, but no one wants to read that. So what I will do is channel my frustrations into mini projects to try to get this house where I would like it to be design/decor-wise. Honestly this house has a ton of potential, I just have to work on being patient while we save up money to fix EVERYTHING. So keep an eye out for DIY house projects in the future and in the meantime peruse my Pinterest for some inspiration of your own.

Here's an exterior of the house, one day we'll change the color since it looks a little drab.
If you've read this far, thank you, sometimes we all need to rant/ramble on about things that frustrate us. I've got a sewing project on the sewing table so look for that later this week!
